Cousin Love and Sparks Lake Campout

Whew! The last 3 weeks have been a whirlwind.

I spent a week a Young Women Camp.

The day I arrived home, David & Holly & kids flew in from Wisconsin. The next day we hosted Hunter's 1st birthday party.

Maleena had everything planned out so well...except the weather! Since rain was in the forecast, she moved the party from Hunter's great-grandma's house (big yard, small house) to our house (a little bigger) a few days before. It was a tight fit, but fun to see the family and friends. Happy Birthday, Hunter!

Polly & Eric & kids came to visit mid-week so they could spend time with family from far(ther) away. Lots of cousin love going on...even if they don't like posing for photos!

And Anson found his toes!

Meanwhile, the Young Women came over and packed food for the backpacking trip later this month. Yay! We have enough girls to go on the hike! I had been afraid that we wouldn't be able to go. Stay tuned for photos and stories at the end of the month.

Last but not least, Mark and I enjoyed our annual canoe-camping trip at Sparks Lake last week. We were the "guides" for a scout outing. We camped near the boys and enjoyed some fun with them, but we weren't in charge of keeping track of them or feeding them. We had such a wonderful trip.

You can take as much gear as you want with canoe camping...all the comforts of home!

I love the little camp kitchen we bought last summer.

The view from our camp site down the cove to our neighbors...the scouts.

The lake water level was high this year after so much snow and rain this spring.

On our last day we took a day trip to Newberry Crater and walked along beautiful Paulina Creek.

Are you guys tired yet? You should be tired! Ha ha. Love the cousin pictures, love the lake pictures. Even though we weren't there, I could see our canoes in the background. Yep, there's LOTS of water this year. It will be interesting to see how much is left by the time we get there in a couple weeks. Oh, and I agree, your little camp kitchen is awesome. :)

What a busy summer you are having this year! At least you and Mark get to do almost all of the activities together!

You also are getting to see some many family members from far away, which are priceless opportunities. I have learned to never take those times for granted.

I wanted to let you know that your blog is included in today's edition of "My New Favorite Blogs."

http://poetrysansonions.blogspot.com/2012/07/my-new-favorite-blogs-sunday-july-15th.html especially a link to your fabric ball pattern! I think it is so great that so many people have taken your tutorial and made hundreds of balls made of fabric and love!!

Adorable babies and cute cupcakes . . . but the best photo in your post is the amazing one of the lake with the mountain behind. It's breathtaking. I have plenty of babies and sweet treats these days, but what my heart longs for is a day in the woods. I'm so happy to see all your fun adventures and activities this summer (and a thesis finished to boot!). Enjoy, friend.
